When I was traveling for work, my schedule was filled with nice client dinners (which sometimes included meals later in the evening too!) 🌙
I usually couldn’t help ordering (and eating!) ALL of the appetizers, desserts, plus whatever I had for my entree. The food was so good, I didn’t want to miss out. Do you understand what it’s like to be a foodie… eating all the foods… enjoying every single bite and every single moment… eating wayyyyy over capacity, but shrugging it off… you only live once, right? Then you get back to your hotel room, feeling guilty and frustrated with yourself for making “bad choices” once again. 🧁 🍨
This habit; although enjoyable, was doing nothing for my figure. I was determined to find a way to still be able to enjoy my meals… while keeping my waistline in check and not feeling like a jerk for not overindulging with my client. 🤔
Here are some of the ways I found that worked best for me to eat a little healthier, (even if I was at a fancy, high end restaurant):
🕰 Plan ahead, if you know you have a big dinner, eat lighter during the day
⚡️Order smaller portions (if possible)
✨ Eat half of the protein served
🥗 Order a salad instead (LOL – this was hard, even though I enjoy salads)
🚫 Pass on the bread
🍷 One glass of wine (instead of 3-5!)
💥 Split a meal with someone else
⭐️ Order Tapas style and pass the plates around!
🍰 Split a dessert with someone (or even tapas style with desserts!)
Sometimes it can be challenging to pass on a fancy steak or seafood dinner at the amazing dining establishments around the country. Be kind to yourself, and try at least one of these ideas to begin moving in a healthier direction. 💃🏻🕺🏼
Remember, big change doesn’t happen overnight!
